The Timber Corps Girls

“Many letters regarding the women who served in the armed forces have recently appeared in your magazine. However, little or nothing has been printed about the girls who worked in the “lumber” industry. We did everything and anything – my job at the age of 16 was that of tractor and truck driver. I enclose a group picture of the Timber Corps I was in, which was taken in about 1942 at Coddenham, near Ipswich in Suffolk….”
