The Benefice said ‘farewell and thank you’ to Rev. Philip Payne and Mary, his wife as they retire from the Rectory at a service in Stonham Aspal on 28th July.

A packed church of parishioners celebrated his incumbency with song led by the Ten Village Band, readings and prayer.  The service was followed by a tea in the village hall featuring a cake decorated with a map of the Ten Villages.

All ten congregations were represented and wished Philip and Mary a long and happy retirement.

The regular ‘From The Rectory’ features will not be so regular as the unpaid ministry team will be busy leading services and taking on the other responsibilities of a parish priest.
