After many years of deterioration the Fox chest tomb on the south side of the Coddenham churchyard was becoming dangerous and at risk of collapse.
The Gardemau Church Charity has kindly funded its restoration which was recently carried out by a skilled ecclesiastical stone mason. The Gardemau monument and some historic stonework inside the church were also repaired. The PCC would not have been able to undertake these works without the charity’s support.
For interest: people were not buried inside the above ground part of these tombs, but in a normal grave below them!
