Volunteers Week – 3rd – 9th June – celebrates all those who volunteer in their communities.  The staff and committee at Coddenham Community Shop would like to say a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to all the amazing volunteers who have contributed their time and skill over the last four and a half years.

Did you know that –

Volunteers provide 91 hours (on average) of their time working in the Shop each week

Volunteers wash at least 36 aprons each week

The Shop sells around 65 slices of delicious cake made by our amazing volunteer bakers each week, that’s around 350 per month and 4200 a year!!!

One volunteer has weighed and bagged 4500 bags of bird food since the Shop opened

Our amazing window displays are created by one very talented volunteer

Two amazing volunteers deal with all the accounts and money ‘stuff’!

Volunteers also clean the windows, fix things, paint the interior, buy the toastie bread, make weekly visits to the wholesaler using their own cars…….

The Committee volunteers also give their time at regular planning meetings, supervising staff, organising and running the annual shareholders meeting, dealing with legal stuff, marketing and advertising

WOW what a lot happens behind the scenes!  THANK YOU to all those who volunteer.

YOU can help by supporting the Shop by shopping ‘local’ or volunteering in any way you feel able.  Volunteering is good for you and for your community!

Did you know that every pound spent in a local shop contributes £1.76 to the local economy and community whereas one pound spent in a supermarket only contributes 36p!!!
