The Parochial Church Council have been looking at the environmental impact of St Mary’s and are pleased to announce that St Mary’s has been awarfed the Bronze Eco Church Award by the A ROCHA UK Project .
The award recognises the St Marys efforts to care for God’s earth in the following areas – Worship and Teaching, Management of Buildings and Land, Community and Global Engagement and Lifestyle. St Mary’s Church is a Grade 1 listed, thousand year old building and as such it is very difficult to improve its carbon footprint. However the congregation is aware of its responsibility to look at ways to protect the environment and promote a ‘green’ agenda.
The congregation is looking at applying for the Silver Eco Church Award – watch this space!
