Your Parish Council is currently considering the budget for its fiscal year starting 1st April 2023.
In an effort to keep the Precept at this year’s level or very close thereto, whist meeting the Council’s statuary obligations and maintaining important Parish amenities, residents are asked for their views on Street Lighting being turned off between midnight and 6am. Due to energy price inflation, street lighting costs have increased significantly and reducing their use in a safe and sensible way would do much to mitigate the cost increase. It also has a positive environmental benefit and reduces overall light pollution. We are aware of other councils in Mid-Suffolk which have already decided to make this change.
If you have views which the Parish Council should take into account prior to making a decision, please e-mail the Clerk to the Council, Sue Frankis: at clerk.coddenhampc@gmail.com or share them in person at the public session to be held at 7pm at The Coddenham Centre, immediately prior to the next meeting of the Parish Council on Thursday 24th November.
Thank you.
Cllr Nick Mills

Sounds very sensible and surprised not already actioned. Apart from the environmental and cost implications, Coddenham is proud of its minimal light pollution and most (walking) residents used to carrying torches.
We’ve adopted similar economies at The Coddenham Centre in the car parking area and this has been welcomed by local residents.
